Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization committed to eradicate poverty housing.  In operation since 1983, with the presence across India through Corporate and NGO partnership has built and repaired around 20,000 homes, serving close to 100,000 people.

Star Cement participated in the coporate vounteer program to provide safe, decent and affordable shelter to families in need. The participants worked together with vounteers from fellow corporate houses which included onsite tour, work onsite and house dedication.

On the eve of the 27th day of Ramadan Mr. Syed Abuthahir, Mr. Shamil Razack, and Mr. Mohamed Arshadh while observing fast, worked at 2 sites, thus contributing hard labour. Work included moving cement, bricks and other building materials from the storage point to the work site. They worked as a team with volunteers from CISCO USA and APAC regions and dedicated the house built by Mr. Ahmed Salahuddin.

The outcome of this participation was a deep understanding of the difficulties laborers undergo. In the process of improving their work standards, Star Cement has taken the initiative to make construction work simpler by providing the with tools. Taking this initiative further Star Cement proposes to reach the poor and needy from all the sections of the society in Tamil Nadu with the support of Habitat.
