In the year 1976, Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd, Korea, established a cement factory in Bahrain, as its sub- division, to provide cement for its mega projects in the country. Due to the demand of cement products in the domestic market the company entered into cement manufacturing and distribution ventures. In may 2000, the factory was acquired by M/s. Emirates Trading Agency, Dubai and subsequently changed the company’s name to STAR Cement (WLL).
 
STAR Cement Co W.L.L, is located at 590, 102 Drydock Highway, Hidd Industrial Area in Bahrain. Since its establishment, The company has always been in the forefront in producing and delivering quality goods/services to the customer.
The plant is located at the seaside area at Hidd and served by a jetty. It is about 10km from Manama the main town and well- connected by road to various places in Bahrain, plus a 25km road/bridge link to Saudi Arabia. STAR Cement (LLC) is the sole producer of cement in the country and thus has a big advantage over its competitors. The available draft on the seacoast is 5.5 m due to which a 10,000 Tonne capacity can be received at the plant jetty. STAR Cement (LLC) is already prominent in the Abu Dhabi market and enjoys good brand image in the market. In addition ETA’s shipping business reduces its dependence in clinker sourcing. The plant produces high quality cement with Hitachi Grinding Mills, Japan, and it sources its raw materials from manufacturers of internation repute from all over the globe. The company has its own Jetty facilities for import and discharge of raw materials along with a modern testing laboratory for testing the compliance of cement products in different standards such as ASTM and BSEN.
The company prides itself in being able to meet superior quality parameters of ASTM standards and being in a position to procure high quality clinker in the world. The clinker is grounded using superior technology from Hitachi, Japan, and skilled staff ensure high standards of operation and maintenance.
