Star Cement has embarked on a backward integration project to manufacture Clinker by setting up a 6500tpd state of the art clinkerisation unit at Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. The project is under advanced stage of construction and expected to be completed by end 2008. The proposed unit, which shall have a capacity of about 2.2 million MT per annum, will be a boon to the Star Cement’s UAE operations, as it will supply the much needed Clinker for the Cement Grinding Plants operating in Abu Dhabi and Ajman and improve the bottom line.
The Clinkerisation Plant has been conceptualized to be the most energy efficient and environmental friendly by adopting the best available technologies in the various stages of manufacturing. The Raw Mill is supplied by M/s.Loesche, Germany in association with M/s.Loesche India, a technology leader in the grinding mill with a track record of 100years. The 6 Roller grinding mill is the one of the biggest mills in this region. The Pyro system is supplied by FLSmidth, Denmark in association with FLS India. The Pyro system has 6 Stage, twin string Preheater and In Line Calciner and 3rd generation SF Clinker Cooler system.
The environmental control measures include use of high efficiency membrane bag houses, with dust filtration efficiency confirming to better than Euro Norms. Air Cooled Systems have been adopted and thus reducing the consumption of water to the minimum possible setting a new benchmark in this region. All the utilities and services have been optimally tailored to serve the main plant requirement. Star Cement-Ras Al Khaimah unit will be a glittering Star in the fast growing ETA STAR Group.
